Kaymele (part 6)

'I will not fail!  Bly you must wake up your life depends on it!' I yell, shaking her vigorously.
'The doctors want her to be awake so the medicine will work.  Oh, that medicine has made her sleepy and it really worked this time.' I think to myself.  'Time is running out and I still haven't awakened her.  There's only one thing left to try.'
'Oo ee veh-thehd nah ee ohn-nahd.  See boh oo-thahn-nah.  Eye oo-ess-tell-ee, ess-tell-ee-akh nahd,' I pause and still she doesn't stir, 'Ess-tell-ee-oh hahn, ess-tell-ee-oh hahn, ess-tell-ee-oh, ess-tell-ee-oh hahn, ess-tell-ee-oh vehl-ehth.' I sing in the clearest and sweetest voice.
There is a long, silent, pause.  Even the noise outside the building; where the sounds of workers could be heard, was silent.  Her eyes flutter open and she moans softly.
'What, where am I?  Kaymele, are there three of you?  You all sing so beautifully,' said Bly wobbling back and forth as she tried to sit up.
'Stop, just lay there for a while Bly you've been through so much, and we had to triple your dose of medicine.  The drugs we had to use on you are causing you to see things in triple I guess.  Don't worry it will go away in a few hours,' I say adjusting her blankets, 'Xander hasn't left you bedside since we gave you the potion.  I finally sent him away to get some sleep for his own good.  You gave us quite a scare.'
'Oh my head!  How long was I out?' asked Bly in a croaky whisper.
'Dear, you've been out for nearly six days,' I say.
'Oh my, it felt as if it were only a few hours.  Can I have some water?' whispered Bly.
'Of course,' I say pouring a glass.
'There was something I wanted to ask you before.  What happened back when Nithron rescued you?  What did he rescue you from?'
I look at the floor and bite my lip.  Fresh memories of Eleniel flood my mind and the tears begin to slide down my cheeks.  To remember that night when horror, pain, and hatred entered my life again.
'I-I can't tell you. The memories are too much for me, she wouldn't want me to speak of the past.  She was so young and beautiful, why did it have to be her,' I say between sobs.
'Who do you speak of?  I promise not to speak a word of it to anyone,' says Bly the same way Eleniel used to say to me when she knew I was hiding something.
A dozen thoughts buzzed in my head, and the fear of anything escaping this room was nagging at my mind.  What if she told Xander about my deeds.  He's not the type of person that you tell murders to and he's fine with it.  What if Nithron found that I spoke of it.  I blushed at the thought of it escaping to his ears.
'I cannot trust even you my friend, and it would be far too much sorrow for your pure ears to hear,' I say wiping the streams of tears that continue to flow.
'It was someone dear to you... a friend, or a member of your family perhaps?' Bly questioned.
'Please don't make me answer!' I plead.  'Oh how I loath pleading!'
Then Nithron enters the room his shoes barely making any noise against the soft earthen floor.  I think he's glad to see Bly awake, but when he looked at me his expression changed.
'Kaymele, you've been crying.  What troubles you?' he asks handing me a cloth to wipe my face.
'Nothing, just happiness... and the wild onions that I was sent to pick I accidentally rubbed into my eyes and they started watering,' I say trembling, 'have you seen Nairi?  Were the herbs useful to Anakis and Natia?'
'Nairi is sleeping now, I think Adonis won't last much longer he looked exhausted when I stopped in,' he paused and chuckled to himself then continued, 'Anakis and Natia are professional healers, and they send you thanks for the herbs.'
'How is Xander?' asks Bly trying to sit up again.
'He is tired and anxious.  He stayed awake for 5 days always sitting in here with you,' said Nithron.
She blushed a deep red and lowers her eyes.  I retrieve more salve for her cuts and burns; but from her complexion I can tell the medicine is starting to work.  I wished that I could use my powers on the burns but I've never tried to heal an Elf.  It might start another kind of infection or something even more terrible.  As I apply the salve Nithron soaks a bandage in cold water, and hands it to me.  I noticed it was wet at the last moment, but by then it was too late.  For a moment I was water itself then I feel myself falling faster and faster until I hit the floor with a thud.  'Oh great, just great,' I think to myself.
'Thanks Nithron!  Now look what you did,' I shout angrily.
Lying on the floor both Bly and Nithron now see what happened.  I have now gained a tail, the scales are shimmering in the light coming from the high windows.  My eyes are now blue and my hair; that had been in a loose braid, now hung loose down my back.  My dress was now gone, and in it's place from the torso up, a greenish bodice that has cap sleeves and ornate designs all over.  On my arms I have arm bands that swirl between my shoulder and elbow.  The most startling to them was the tattoo on my hand.  They both stare at me with open mouths, frozen in shock.  I sigh and lift my hand above my tail; curling in my fingers the water begins to evaporate off me.  In a few moments I'm back on my feet applying salve again.
'What just happened?' asked Nithron still standing stalk still.
'Oh, nothing.  Just a little thing I forgot to tell you about myself,' they both still looked puzzled so I continued, 'If water touches my skin then I become a mermaid.  It's like that for all the other merfolk, a single drop alone can cause a transformation.'
As I was finishing my speech Adonis rushes in looking frantically around.
'Have any of you seen Nairi? I woke up and she was gone!' exclaims Adonis.
'Now just slow down.  She may have gone to find water or some other thing that Ceridwen's might need,' said Nithron reassuring Adonis.
In the silence that followed Adonis heard something that not even mine or Nithron's Elf ears could hear.  He dashes off down the long corridor.  Nithron starts to leave when Xander runs past.
    'Xander!' calls Bly.
'Bly!  Your awake, and look much better than when I saw you last,' says Xander slightly gasping for breath.
'Hurry Nithron that was Nairi's scream,' he says taking off again, 'I will come back Bly and talk to you properly.'
'Hurry Nithron, I'm coming too,' I say starting towards the door.
'Whoa, you aren't going anywhere,' says Nithron grabbing my arm, 'we don't know the trouble, and you are attending Bly.  Please stay here.'
    'Please, don't go,' pleads Bly.
'Oh, Bly.  I guess I must stay and assist Bly as you say Nithron,' I say lowering my gaze.
'We will return,' says both Xander and Nithron.
Soon after they left I peeked out the door.  Not a soul to be seen.  I turn and face Bly, she is fussing with her dress.  I give her the dress that the rebels kindly gave for her to change into.  Even though it had been worn by a lady with much longer arms and a bigger waist than Bly, it was in much better condition than the one she was wearing.  She goes into the next room to change and adjust it.
'Here's my chance,' I think, 'I'll just quietly slip away while she's busy.'
Swiftly I ran; down the corridor and out the large doors towards the Captain's tent.  There aren't any people around, and that worries me.  I reach the entrance of the tent and call for Captain Beleg.  The tent flap opens and his rough face meets mine.
'Captain, I expect you heard the scream?' I say.
'Of course, I have already sent for a hundred of my men to gather their weapons,' says Beleg stepping outside of the tent.
'Good, I'm going ahead.  Tell your men to hurry!' I say taking off again.
Beleg doesn't try to stop me like Nithron did, so I rush off to find them.  I listen for Adonis, Xander's sword, the twang of Nithron's new bow, and the singing of arrows flying through the air.  But instead I hear the roar of Prid and follow him.  At last I find them all fighting at the doors of the dungeon.  Hiding in the trees I can see everything.  Two dragons one black as night, and the other grey with sharp green eyes.  I see Adonis his hair in flames and all at once before my eyes there he was a giant, red, dragon.  Then there is nothing but teeth, claws, and fire between them.  Xander, Prid, and Nithron are trying to reach the dragons' tender bellies, but unsuccessfully.  Adonis is tiring fast he's no match for two older dragons.  I call for Florentide to come help him, and she is flying with the most speed she can control.  I search for Nairi but in all the confusion I can't find her short figure anywhere.  I needed a plan, I needed to safely find Nairi, and secretly help Xander, Nithron, and Prid defeat the dragons.  Finally I think of one thing that I was forbidden to do at home.  The council told me that I was never to cast any spells upon anyone or anything, but I'm not home anymore.
'Iire i luu lende, fuin lanta.  Galad edraith lye ilya!' I whisper.
As I spoke the words my face began to glow with white light, far brighter than the sun.  My eyes must have been shining too, for no one could look directly into them.  I felt my hair rise and burst into what I guessed to be blue flames, and the rest of me; even my dress, turns into water.  I leap out of my hiding spot and rush towards the battle field.  The fighting stops because of the blinding light, but I dim after a while and the dragons can see again.  The black one takes a swipe with his claw at me, but I see the claw coming, and create a water ball to throw at the sole of his foot.  It meets it's mark and as the water touched his bare, soft, skin he screeched in pain.  The water worked as an acid, it burns and boils the skin until there was nothing left but blood and loose tendons.
Florentide arrives and breaths icy fire at the other dragons.  Prid; now a loin, lunges at the dragon and Adonis shoots fire at the injured foot.  The dragon jumps back.  Xander runs forward; nearly getting scorched by the other dragon.  Then the army of a hundred rebels led by Beleg arrives.  With Nithron leading the charge they rush the dragons and the battle has indeed begun.
'Adonis!' I shout in a watery voice over the battle cries, 'where is Nairi?!'
'At the edge of the forest.  She is wounded I think, hurry and get her back to Anakis and Natia!'
I frantically search the edge of the forest, and then I see her.  The long dark hair and the torn dress. 'Nairi,'.  I run faster and faster until I reach her.  Her shoulder has been pierced by a branch I guess to have been bitten off by some other kind of monster.  She is lying in a puddle of red and purple blood an artery must have been punctured when she slammed into the tree.  There was no time for thinking, gently I lift her. Before I can lift her into my arms I see it, one of the dragons transformed back into a man and is shooting arrows with deadly aim.  I watch as one of the arrows pierces into Nithron's side.
    'NOOO!' I scream.
He falls to the ground and the world seems to be spinning around me, and I hear nothing but the racing beat of my heart as I leave Nairi and run to him.  Before I can fully process what has happened, I throw a water ball at the archer straight onto his chest.  He screams and frantically tries to wipe the water off, but it was far too late.
'Death to all who are servants of King Felix!' I scream to him before he died.
Nithron's breath is getting shorter and he is grabbing at my arm.  I see his blue eyes, and I can't help but tear up.  He pulls my ear towards his lips he says.
    'Save, Nairi...' he whispers.
The other dragon is taking off and leaving the battle and swearing something, but I can't hear.  Tears are streaming down my face and I can't let go of his hand.
'No, I won't leave you!' I say holding tighter.
'Go! You must Go!' he says throwing me back.
I run back to Nairi still crying.  She is still bleeding badly, and I race back to camp with her in my arms.  Anakis and Natia meet me half way and quickly set to work clearing her room.  After I arrive the spell breaks and I'm back to normal.  Though my nose is bleeding, I don't notice.
After what seems like an eternity the battle party returns.  Adonis is in a full sprint towards the building.  I run past him trying to find Nithron, but he stops me.
'Where is Nairi!' he says taking shallow breaths.
'She's in her room with Anakis, Natia, and about a dozen other physicians,' I say but stopping him now, 'but Anakis and Natia say that no one else is allowed into the room.'
'What!  They will surely let me in.  I have to see her!  I was lazy and wasn't there for her,' says Adonis almost beginning to cry.
'Look they are Fairies alright!  They are the best healers known to Incantevole,' I say.
'Fairies?!  How do you know?' he asks shocked.
'Their colors, just ask Bly, Xander, and maybe even Prid.  They are fairies, and they will stop at nothing to save Nairi,' I say, 'now where is Nithron?  Is he alive?  Who has him?'
'Slow down, Xander and Prid are carrying him here as we speak, but I should warn you that...' he says.
But before he could finish, I was running to find them.  Through the hundred men I searched for them.  Finally I spot them Xander on one side and Prid on the other Nithron in the middle.  His entire side was red with blood.  Xander and Prid didn't look much better, but they were both able to walk.  The arrow was pulled from his side and left behind at the battle field, so now there is a gaping hole where the arrow used to be.  We make a bed for him, and Anakis, Natia and more physicians are beside him telling me to leave.  But I can bear to leave him for even a moment.  I feel Xander and a guard pulling me out of the room.  I claw and bite even scream to stay, but I weaken and they pull me away easily.  Outside the closed door I collapse and bang endlessly against it, screaming, and crying.  No one dares to come near, fearing my violent behavior; I already scratched Xander's arm to the point of bleeding.  Then through my tears I see Bly cautiously walking up to me.  She wraps me in a blanket and takes me back to her room.
I lie on her bed and whimper until I fall asleep.  'How many more people that I love will be taken away from me?  First Eleniel, now surely Nithron will die too.' I think, and with unstoppable sobs I slip into a deep sleep.

Nairi (Part 3)

My eyes slowly fluttered open at the sound of snoring. W-what happened? The last thing I remember was the giant two headed snake thing and- I realized immediately what had happened. I lay there for awhile to assess my situation, and I kept coming back to the same conclusion. I was weak, useless. I had become a burden for everyone.
I decided to take a walk. I needed to clear my mind. I sat up and looked around me. Where am I? I looked all around the interior of the building I was in. It had low ceilings, stone walls, a lot of beds, and was more or less just a really big room.
I started to get up when I realized someone was laying on my bedside. I looked down at the sleeping figure, and with a shock I realized, it’s Adonis!? W-why is he sleeping here?  I looked at his sleeping face. It was filled with worry. Was he really that worried about me? I thought for a moment then shook my head. There is no way. He must have been worried about something else. I stared at his sleeping figure. His hair was in his face and his back was moving up and down from his breathing. The way he slept reminded me of the way Nuvole had.
I slid my leg out from under him. The movements made him stir, but he didn't awake. I stepped out of bed and made my way to the door. I took one last look at Adonis before leaving, and shut the door quietly behind me.
It was late out. The moon was high above me, but a few people were still out. I kept walking, passing crumbling stone buildings, and some that still stood strong. I happened upon this huge building, with a big gate. The roof had almost completely fallen in. I walked up to the gate. To my surprise it was ajar. I slipped through the small crack and made my way to the center of the large structure and what I found there seemed out of place. There in front of me was a small pond. Its water was so clear you could see to the bottom, were little tadpoles swam in the mud. It was probably fed by a spring somewhere.
I sat down on a small rock at the edge and looked at my reflection in the still waters. Why are you so weak? You couldn't do anything to help your friends. You ended up having to be carried the whole way here most likely. You, You can't do anything, I smacked the top of the water with my hand, rippling my reflection, so I wouldn't have to look at myself.
I sighed There is no way I can be helpful to them...I can hardly hold a sword. The one I have is almost as tall as me. Plus swords kill, and bring blood. I never liked blood it always made me squeamish, but I thought I would probably be able to handle it when the king died...maybe because of all the blood he has spilled over the course of his rein...my brother’s included. Then it dawned on me, What if I learn to control my powers! If I learned how, I would be able to help, and maybe be able to do so without spilling any blood!  This was great. All I had to do was find out which of the Ceridwen powers I was best at. Like Nuvole was good at Ice. Maybe I will try water. I concentrated hard. I imagined some of the water coming out of the pool into a spherical shape. I looked up but nothing was there. I will have to try harder. I concentrated again, and this time I felt a tugging in my gut. I looked up and in front of me a ball of water was floating in the air. "I did it." I mumbled to myself. "Ha-ha, I really did it. All right then...next up is ice."
I stared at the ball of water and thought of the coldest place I had ever been. I imagined the ice crystals that hung from some of the houses back home. I focused on what they looked like. I willed the ball to freeze.
I opened my eyes. The water was still floating there, but no ice. I thought hard. Something about this situation was familiar. Then I remembered, and seem to be transported back to the memory... 'Nuvole,' I ran up to my older brother a huge grin on my face.
'What is it?' He bent down so he would be level with me.
'I have decided.' I said matter-o-factly.
He laughed.
'And what exactly have you decided.' He stared down at me and smiled.

'My specialty is going to be ice.' I looked up at him, trying to make my eyes look as pleading as possible. 'Can you teach me Nuvole...Please?'
He sighed, and then smiled at me. 'Of course I can.'
'Yeah! So, how do I do it, Nuvole...Tell me?!
'Calm down, Nairi. Give me a chance to speak.' He smiled and pulled together some water making a sphere. 'Ok, First you have to have water.' he gestured to the sphere.
I sighed. 'I know that, Nuvole...I just don't know how to turn it to ice!'
'Hold you horses, Nairi. Next think of what you want it to become." He closed his eyes in concentration. 'Imagine it becoming ice from the outside in. See it spreading on the surface to the next layer of water and inward.' I watched in amazement as the ball of water turned into a ball of ice. Nuvole opened his eyes. 'See? Easy.'
'Nuvole,' I stood there wide eyed staring at the sphere. 'YOU ARE SO COOL!'
He laughed, and smiled down at me. 'I know.' He poked me in the forehead. 'Now come on if we aren't home soon
mom will get mad.' He walked off and I followed.
The memory ended and I realized I was crying No crying, Nairi. I scolded myself and wiped my eyes.
I looked at the floating ball of water, then closed my eyes and did exactly what Nuvole had instructed me to do that day. I concentrated so hard until my head felt like it might explode. Just as I was about to give up, I felt again that tug in my gut. I opened my eyes and there, floating in front of me was a ball of ice.
I jumped up allowing the ball to fall back into the water "I did it!" I yelled.  I jumped up and down a few times, and then I tripped and fell. I let out a small startled, cry. Suddenly, right before I hit the water, I felt someone grab my wrist and pull me back onto my feet.
As soon as I was upright the person let go of my hand. I looked up and met the gaze of a pair of golden eyes. At first I thought it was Adonis, but I realized pretty quick it wasn't. This man had black hair.
I backed up from him. "Thank you." I said
"No problem," He waved his hand. "But what is a Ceridwen doing nearly falling in a pond?"
I backed up "H-how did you kno-"
"How did I know? Well you were just performing a bit of a demonstration over there." He smiled at me."Isn't that right Morte?"
"Yup." A slim yet muscular man stepped out from behind a tree.
"W-well you shouldn't spy on people...It is rude."
The other man, Morte, laughed. "I guess your right. I’m sorry." He smiled at me and nudged the other guy in the side. "Uccidere, say sorry."
The man ,Uccidere, bowed. "Please forgive me."
I sighed "I guess."
Morte looked thoughtful."You know," He looked at me."Can I show you a place...I think you will like it."
I was suspicious of these people...something didn't seem right, but they could just want to show me something. "How far is it?"
"Not to far," Uccidere smiled. "Just into the forest a ways."
"I don't think I should." I smiled politly, "Sorry."
Morte, walked up to me, and he frowned. "Come on. It is only a little ways into the forest."
"But I really think I should-"
"Please." Uccidere, looked at me with such pleading eyes. I couldn't say no.
I sighed. "Fine...If it is only a little ways."
Morte smiled. "Thank you."
He abruptly turned and walked into the forest. I ran to catch up."So, where are you taking me?"
"It is a secret." Morte said. He looked at me with piercing green eyes.
We walked on and on...I saw nothing but trees in every direction. I definitely couldn't find my way back if necessary.
"How much farther I asked." Not much farther...in fact," Uccidere smiled at me. "We are here."
I looked around, and realized we were at a little area were no trees were.
"Yup," Morte flipped a lock of brown hair from his face. And looked me dead in the eyes and smiled a cold smile. "This is the last place you will see, Well besides dungeon walls."
What he said hit me like a weight. "What?"
"You heard him."Uccidere laughed. "Oh, and don’t even think about trying to escape. It is nearly impossible to escape a dragon."
Dragons? They are dragons? And they are working for the king. How could I be so stupid!? I followed two strangers deep into the forest and look what happened...I am about to be dragged off. I’m such on idiot. I would have continued scolding myself mentally but Morte and Uccidere suddenly grabbed me by both wrists. What should I do? I thought about using water or ice...but both were so hard to use for me...Then it dawned on me.  Wind! My specialty must be wind. There is only one way to find out.
I invisioned a forceful wind smashing into both of my attackers. I felt a warmth starting from my stomach spredding through my body, and suddenly, both my attackers were knocked back by a huge gust. "Ha, Take that." I turned to run but stopped at the vast expanse of forest in front of me. I didn't know which way to go. Morte jumped up and hit me. I soared through the air, trees flying by me until I hit one with such force all the air left my body.
"Hey, Uccidere," He said his eyes full of hatred. "The boss said we could break her didn't he."
Uccidere, smiled evily. "Yup, He said use any means necessary. Just don't kill the brat."
"Great," Morte walked up to me. "I am going to enjoy breaking you." He had a murderous look in his eyes.
I was terrified. I felt my heart rate quicken, and my breath was coming in short gasps
Morte picked me up, spun around, and threw me towards Uccidere.
Time seemed to slow down. In that moment I knew the only thing I could do was scream. And I did. That is when Uccidere spun around and kicked me cutting off my scream and sending me flying back the way I had come.
The force of being thrown one way and the force of the leg coming from another sent a searing pain in my side. I hit a tree with great force and felt something pierce into my left shoulder. I screamed again, the pain was so great.
The pair of dragons started to run towards me again. I tried to move, but the pain in my right side burned like I was hit with fire. And my shoulder seemed to scream out through my body in pain.
I couldn't even manage a scream. It came out as a sort of whimper.
Suddenly someone passed in front of me. "How dare you!" He said. "How dare you, how dare you." My first thought was that Nuvole had come to save me. I focused on the figure infront of me, and shocked, I realized who it was.
"How dare you hurt her!" Adonis, yelled and burst into flames.Because of the air the flames had created his hair was blowng around like he was in the middle of a storm, and his face, it was so full of rage and hatred. He lunged at my attakers and burst a piller of flames at them that hit them with such forse they flew through a pair of trees.
I tried to move again and managed to move my right hand to touch my left shoulder. I felt something hard sticking into me. I looked at my hand and what I saw made my stomach roll. My hand was covered in blood.
I looked up at the battle again. Uccidere and Morte had gotten back up and were trying there best to hit Adonis back "Come back here Half breed." Morte yelled as swung at Adonis.  Adonis moved effortlessly out of the way. Then I saw Uccidere creeping up behind Adonis.
I tried to call to him but again pain shot through my body and everything went out of focus. I could tell I had lost a lot of blood, and if that didn't kill me, the two broken ribs piercing my lungs would.
Through my blurred vision, I saw Uccidere and Morte turn into massive dragons.
Xander, Nithron, and Prid came running into the clearing with everyone else in tow.

Good. Adonis won't be alone against those two.It was my last thought before everything went completly black.

Bly {Part 4}

Via
Xander and Nithron's voices awoke her, and she glanced around her.  Shapes and colors swam in her eyes, but Bly could faintly make out Xander's face, and, was he holding her?
"Bly, are, are you ok?" His voice sounded fuzzy, like it was a distance off.
"I, I don't know..." She remembered the Ortrov, "Is it, dead?"
Xander smiled down at her, but it was wobbily, and forced.  "Yes, your Elf friend slayed it with quite  a dramatic flair"
Bly smiled, "I'd like to hear the story sometime" she turned her head to look at Nairi, and her heart filled with fear. "Is she ok?"
Adonis felt her head, and looked up worriedly, "She is really cold. I know you Elves might have a high tolerance, but what about Ceridwens? How do they deal with the poison?"
'Ceridwen? So Nairi isn't a human...' Bly turned that piece of information over in her head, 'Somehow, I must've confused her soul's color with the color of a human's grey...'.  Anakis hurried over, clutching a satchel of herbs tightly.  "I have some herbs, I don't know much about Ortrov wounds, but will any help?" Nithron thought for a moment, "WaxFire weed, do you have any?" Anakis pawed through her varied herbs, and pulled out a small package of tan flowers with bright red centers. "It's not a lot" she apologized quickly, while handing the package over to Nithron.  Adonis fairly snatched it from him, "How much do I use? All of it? Is all of it to much?" Nithron hastily took it back from him, "If we split it between Bly and Nairi, it should possibly last them both long enough until we get to the Rebel camp"
Bly's mind raced, this time of the year, WaxFire weed only grew in one place, plus, it was a hard foliage to store, the likelihood that the Rebels would have more was slim...Nairi needed it now. You could tell by the way her she stiff, the cold poison was working its way through her small self with an amazing speed. A terrifying speed....
She raised  herself up slightly, Xander moving to help her. "Give it all to Nairi".
Everyone stared at her as if she was crazy, 'Maybe I am...'
"Bly, that is suicide, and craziness, without the antidote, you'll die" Nithron insisted.
"I didn't say I wouldn't have the antidote. I can last longer then Nairi without it.  The Rebels might not have any, and in that case, we'll have to go where it grows. Nairi wont last that long, I can"
Adonis shot her a look of gratitude, and reclaimed the packet from Nithron, "So, how do we put this weed on?".
                                                                    ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

"Not much further" Nithron led them to a faint path, and they were heading due North. Adonis and Nairi were riding Ciar, Rudy dutifully carried Xander and Bly.  Florentide was casting Adonis scornful looks and the three fairies had mounted their centaurs, one being the unusual color of purple. Kaymele and Nithron walked ahead, speaking quietly.
Nairi mumbled something, and Adonis glanced at Bly with concern carefully hidden in his eyes, "She is getting feverish"
Bly smiled, "Thats good. It means she if fighting the poison. When the victim is cold is when you should really worry"
She felt Xander quickly reach up to feel her head, "You are a little cool". He had been silent ever since she had ordered all the WaxFire given to Nairi.  Bly bit her tongue, "Y-you aren't angry, are you?"
He sighed, "No. I'm not"
He added softly, thinking she wouldn't hear, "Just very worried".

                                                                      ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

"Stop" Nithron held his hand up, and the party ceased.  "We are about the enter Revelin. Linki, Anakis, and Natia, I think it best, for now, to keep your race silent.  Kaymele, What happened in the past, its between you and I, best to not let that slip around and become common knowledge" Bly noticed Kaymele look down slightly. "Xander, well, we can't very well deny that you are from Aragathia in that uniform, just, don't act like you are/  Bly, your visit might be short, but I promise you, they will feel honoured that you have joined us" He turned around, then seemed to remember Adonis, "Oh, you. Lets see....Don't be annoying".
Adonis glared at him, and probably would've normally started a fight, this time, a glare was enough.
Bly watched him with amusement, how could Xander be so blind?
Nithron led them on, and Bly suddenly felt tired, she leaned her head back on Xander, and closed her eyes, and when she finally opened them, a group of physicians were leaned over her.
"Bly, you, blacked out there for a moment" Xander said softly.
"I-I didn't...I just fell, asleep" She mumbled, and turned her head to exaim the room.  It had stone walls, and numerous beds, she spotted Adonis and Nairi a few cots down. "Will she be ok?" Bly murmered, and one of the Physicians smiled, "Yes, thanks to you. Now, stop worrying over her, you are the one in danger here"
Xander looked up, and his mouth was moving, but Bly couldn't hear any words.  Suddenly, there was only one physican, then three, then six, then one again.  Blackness seemed to be eating away at her vision.  She was so tired....
"I'm going to nap again, Xander. Wake me up when Nairi feels better" she ended with a yawn and shiver, and pulled a blanket up to her chin.
Something grabbed her shoulder, and was shaking her, she thought she heard Kaymele, Dragon? Voronwe?
'I don't want to go to Voronwe...I'm comfy right here.....'
She gave in to the blissful blackness that begged her to come and slumber.

~Shortest Chapter I've ever written. And, slightly different then my others....but, this is what you girls (KATHRINE) get for making me post twice in a row. XD~

Xander {Part 3}

Via
The two groups had joined, and yet still kept to themselves. The boy who had been in such distress was being comforted by a blond girl wearing a thick black cloak, and the Elf who had snapped so harshly at Bly was now speaking with her in lowered tones. Xander felt himself bristle mentally, the man had no reason to growl at her for asking a simple question.
The Elf fellow, Xander realized he didn't know any of their names, walked back to his group, and Bly joined Xander by the fire.
"Well?" Xander didn't look up from polishing his sword, instead just rubbed the metal with more aggression.
Bly positioned her dirty skirts around her daintily, "Well what?"
"You two were talking for a long time"
She blinked at him blankly for a moment, then seemed at a loss for what to say.
Finally she took a deep breath, "Captain Bolivar, I didn't think you would get so-"
"Ok ok. Forget I said anything" He had forgotten how perceptive she was.
Bly smiled and glanced over her shoulder at where Adonis and Nairi were arguing over whether or not the berries that grow in the Tawarthion Forest were edible.
"You still think they won't kill each other given the opportunity?" Xander asked her, he didn't see Bly's reasoning over that, they seemed like a perfect pair of enemies to him.
"I'm rather certain"
Xander shrugged again, and tuned out the argueing of Adonis and Nairi. They'd settle things on their own..somehow.
"So, what have you learned about them" Xander gestured to the new comers with his sword tip, and caught the Mermaid/Dwarf/other stuff girl's eye. She was regarding him with a sort of wary untrust. She looked away, and said something in lowered tones to the other dark cloaked girl.
"Well" Bly cleared her throat, "I knew who Nithron is-"
"Nithron? The elf guy?"
Bly laughed, "Nithron Featherheart, yes. His Father is on the council, and I saw him a few times at Voronwe. Naturally, we didn't associate much, since we didn't want Felix to accuse the ambassadors of having friends in the Rebels..." she looked down and kicked a stone, "Not like that much matters now..."
Xander rested a hand on hers, "Its not by any fault of your own, trust me. If Felix really wanted peace with your people, it would have happened"
Bly nodded, and tucked a whisp of hair behind her pointed ear. "Anyway, I was amazed to see him here, normally he is in more important places. And then he said that the Mergirl, Kaymele, was accused of wrongs, he didn't specify, and he helped her leave.  They picked up the those three in Africi, Prid, Anakis and Natia are their names. Prid is half lion, and the girls are Fairies"
Xander glanced at the girls in surprise, "Really? What are they doing so far from their tree? Fairies haven't been heard of for centuries, Did, that guy, Nithron, tell you that?"
Bly shook her head, "He didn't say they were fairies, but I knew"
Xander turned to look at Bly, "How could you possibly know?"
She looked down at the ground, "When I said I didn't have any abilities back at the prison, well, it was a tiny lie. I have never thought of it as an ability, since, well, we all have it.  We can tell species if we look deeply"
"How?"
Bly looked up, seemingly surprised that he wasn't angry at her, "Souls, each person's soul is a different shade, but the colors are all in the same color group in each species. Fairies are pink or purple, Elves are green, Dragons are red, Dwarves are Brown, and Merpeople's are blue. Its an ability we can turn off or on"
Xander seemed taken back, "So, it kinda just, glows around a person? And what about humans?"
Bly smiled, "Yes, like a light coming from within and surronding them" then she frowned, "Humans, are difficult, though. All humans start off white, or pale pale blue. But, as time goes on, their colors may change, or may stay the same.  Felix's was a dark dark red, and yours-" She suddenly stopped, and turned away.
"What? Mine is?"
Looking at him from the corner of her eyes, Bly said, "I can't tell you. It's against our morals. But, look inside yourself, You'll find your own color, I'm s-"
She was interrupted by Nairi's screams.
All members of the parties stood and those with swords held them at the ready.
Adonis ran into the bushes where Nairi had strolled, and came out seconds later with her tossed over his shoulder. For once, she wasn't protesting his aid.
"I saw it! It was huge! I was just-" a shrill shriek filled the air, and the two fairy girls clapped hands over their ears. "It's an Otrov" Nithron whispered. "Otrov?" Prid asked just as quietly, and another shriek pierced the air. The Elf nodded, "They came over with the Fire Mages about, oh, 7000 years ago, and have grown. The last one I saw was about 2000 years ago. And it was the size of a large cow I can only imagine how bi-"
As if on que, the beast's double head reared above them, hissing.
"I don't know about the rest of you, but, in Dragon tongue, that translates into run!" Adonis took off, hefting Nairi over his shoulder again. The white Dragon that had accompanied the newcomers growled at Adonis, then at the Ortrov. The others followed Adonis' lead, but the beast was far more adept at running through a dangerous trap laid forest. It seemed to know where every fire pocket, and Walking tree grove was, and it's snake like body and short stubby legs propelled it with amazing speed through the trees.
"We can't hope to outrun it" the lion boy, Prid, gasped.
"In that case, we'll have to kill it" Adonis stopped suddenly, and dropped Nairi to the ground.
The sounds of the ancient serpent crashing through the undergrowth grew closer.
"Bly, take Ciar and Rudy, and Nairi too, and get out of here. And those fairies. They probably can't fight to save their lives" Xander ordered, he turned towards the sound of the Ortov, and didn't see Natia and Anakis' look of distress that mingled with insult.
Bly seemed ready to obey, but Nariri spoke up, "Now listen, Captain Bolivar, you might be a big guy in that army, but we are all equals here" Nithron seemed ready to interrupt her, but she ignored him, "I say we all stay, or at least I do. And there's nothing you can do about it"
Xander glared at her, silly girl. She had saw the thing, did she really think she would be any help? He was prepared to scold her, with maybe a quip about her height, but the Ortrov burst through the trees. With a squeal that sounded like pleasure, it lunged in to attack. It's double heads spitting poison and fire.
"Don't let it get on you!" Xander heard Bly shout.
He felt the concentrating that only comes on when fighting block all other sounds out, at one point Adonis was fighting beside him, then Nithron. The hissing of the beast and the smell of the sour poison filled the air.
Then in slow motion, it happened. Nairi ran to stick her sword in its stomach, using her short height to get under it, but with a snack like speed, it snapped at her, it's poison, dagger like tongue flickering at her. It sliced across her face and arms before Bly ran in, pulling her friend away, and turning her back to the creature.
Adonis and Xander both shouted at once.
It stabbed Bly in the shoulder, yellowed poison rolling off its fangs, and dripping onto its tongue.
Xander ran forward, his sword felt lighter in his hands, and in the corner of his eyes, where Adonis had once stood, a red dragon growled. In one movement, Xander sliced the creature's tongue off, while the red dragon rammed the Ortrov. Nithron bounded jumped off the white dragon, and stuck his sword into the creatures defenseless belly.
The Ortrov squirmed for a moment, but finally stilled, and Nithron pulled his sword out.
"Bly!" Xander sheathed his red blade, and ran to where Bly and Nairi were collapsed.
The Red Dragon disappeared, leaving only a worried Adonis.
"Bly...." He picked up her limp form, and Nithron knelt beside him, "She'll come to, Elves resist the poison better then Humans" worry clouded his face, and he glanced at the discarded tongue Xander had sliced off. "But that was a lot of poison"

~Ok. I could very well go on, but this post is long enough. Tell me what'cha guys think. Kathrine, your turn!~

~Oh, and isn't that pic of Xander absolutely SMASHING?!~

~Oh, and I apologize for taking the liberties of naming the Ortov. It means 'Poison' in Cretian. or some language. I kinda forget...*whistles* ^.^~

Prid (Part 2)

"Who are you?" asked  Kamele, who was being surprisingly calm next to Anakis's nervous teeth chatter.
Before anyone could answer, a girl from the other party stepped forward and greeted Nithron in this way, "Eassahae, riaian Desh'nerian!"   Kamele gasped and ran the the girl in an embrace.
"You are Elvish!" she exclaimed.   "I must know your name, perhaps I know you!"
"You are not Elvish," said the girl, matter-o-factly.   "Why would you know me?"
"Do not speak to this great lady in this way!" yelled Nithron at the girl.   "This lady happens to be part elf, part dwarf, part human, AND," he added a dramatic pause, "part mermaiden!   What do you say to that?"
The girl gasped.   "I am dreadfully sorry, I didn't know.   I am Bly."   She pointed to herself with a slender hand.   "These are my companions," she said, looking in the direction of the other three.   What a party it was!   There were two boys and one other girl.   One boy was tall, and quite muscular, with brown hair and green eyes.   The other boy was also tall, with gold eyes and extremely red hair.   The girl was very short with very long black hair and blue eyes.   I think that she was around ten tears of age.
"I'm Captain Bolivar, and this is Adonis and Nairi," said the muscular man.   "Now, who are you?"
"I'm Prid," I explained, "and this is Anakis, Natia, Kaymele, and Nithron."   I sneaked a glance at Anakis.   To my surprise, Anakis wasn't even looking at the new people.   She was looking behind us all.   I looked behind as well, and noticed a cloud of dust coming from the other side of the forest.   The person was riding a centaur.
   "Anakis!   It's Linki!" cried Natia.
   "It is!" said Anakis.
"Who is this Linki?" asked Kamele.
"She's who I bought Derpa from for Anakis," replied Natia.   "But why is she coming here?   She should be at her stables."   The figure drew nearer and nearer.   Finally she arrived with a grave look on her face.
"Is there anyone named Prid Leon here?" the girl, Linki, asked.
"That would be me," I replied.   "How do you know my name?"
"Long story.   I need to speak to you.   Privately."   Linki scratched an itch on her arm and hopped off her centaur.   She walked away from everyone else and motioned to me.   I followed.
"What is it?" I asked when I reached her.
"Um, well, I hate to be the one to tell you this, Prid.   Just saying." said Linki.   She stared at the ground.
"Why?   Tell me Linki," I said, rather confused.
"Prid, um," she paused, "Your, um, Africi, um...well..."
"Tell me.   It's okay.   I'll listen."
"Prid, um, Prid, Africi was rampaged and  burned down.   There were no survivers," said Linki, yet again staring at her shoes.
"Uncle Simbani left in time to get far away, didn't he?   Away from the fire?" I asked.
Linki sighed.   "No, Prid.   He didn't."
I fell to the ground.   My only relative in the entire world, gone.   I let out a  loud sob and covered my face with dirt.   I ripped my clothes.
The others, who were standing off a ways, came running.   "What on earth is it, Prid?" asked Anakis.
I looked at her with tears streaming down my cheeks.   "Uncle Simbani is dead."

Adonis (part 2)

After the whole ordeal with Bly nearly killing Xander, I was surprised when everyone decided we should go back to sleep. I didn’t feel tired after all that noise especially because of the dream I had been having. I sat there leaning against a tree, thinking about how I was dragged into this mess anyway, and without realizing it slowly drifted off to sleep.
I woke with a start, realizing I had fallen asleep.  I looked around at my companions. Bly was sleeping peacefully with a smile on her face, like she was dreaming of something happy. Then her face contorted into a pained look as if the dream took a wrong turn. Xander was laying flat on his back his hand touching the hilt of his sword, he seemed passive about what was happening in whatever he was dreaming about, but his whole body was tense.  I turned to look at where Nairi had been sleeping. She wasn’t there anymore. I looked around to see if she was nearby, but I couldn’t see her anywhere.
I arose to go look for her. We were out in the open out here and there could be king’s guard anywhere, plus the forest was equally as dangerous.
She shouldn’t be alone out here, and she knows it.  So where in Incantevole did she go?
Then I heard the sound of running water, and I walked toward it
Then, I saw her leaning against a tree next to a river.
I didn’t even know there was a river here. I thought
I walked up to her. “Hey.” I said before getting near her. I didn’t feel like scaring her.
She jumped a little, but didn’t try to kill me. I guess that’s a good sign.
“Hey.” She didn’t look to see who I was but turned her head the opposite direction and wiped her eyes.
I backed up a little, Please tell me she isn’t crying. I don’t know how to deal with girls crying.
“Um, uh, are you ok?”
She looked at me, her eyes red. Oh no, she really was crying.
“Hey Adonis, what’s wrong? Did you need something?”
“Um, no. It’s just I woke up and everyone was asleep…but you weren’t there so I just thought you might be bored, so I came to find you.” I smiled. That was the worst excuse ever.
Nairi smiled. “Thanks.” She moved over making room for me to sit. I wasn’t sure if I should, but not taking the offer would probably make her sad again, and she looked like she needed company, so I sat.
There was this awkward silence for a long while then Nairi spoke.
“You know,” She paused like she was contemplating whether she should tell me or not, then she spoke again. “You know…My brother…he was killed by the king.” I was shocked. I really hadn’t expected her to tell me this. I could tell something terrible must have happened to her to make her want the king dead so badly. But I really didn’t think I would be the person she told.
“We were out in the fields playing around…I was having a really bad day…and...And Nuvole always seemed to find a way to cheer me up.” She paused and I looked at her. She looked so sad-her face full of pain. “That same day we had found out our dad had died.” She laughed,  a strained laugh, like it was just put there to fill silence. “Nuvole took me out to the fields to play…I loved it out there. Nuvole was the best in our class at using ice.” She smiled. It must have been a fond memory. “I would sit there and he would make ice sculptures, but not just normal ones, He would make them look so stupid.” She laughed, a very pretty laugh, full of life. “But then…” Her smile died and her eyes took on a pained look. “But then King Felix came. I knew something must be wrong because everyone was going into their houses. But I didn’t know what. I was only eight, how was I supposed to know.” She started crying again.
Oh no what do I do? I really don’t know what I’m supposed to do when girls cry!
I was about to say something when she continued.
“Nuvole, h-he told me we needed to go, but, but it was too late the king was already coming. I didn’t know what was going on, but I think Nuvole tried to protect me. He stepped in front of me so the king didn’t see me.” She stopped for a second then continued. “The next thing I knew Nuvole is being dragged off by the king.  I never saw him again. I learned later that he went to talk to the king about leaving our people alone.” Her crying turned into sobbing. “Then just a few years later a note came that they had killed Nuvole. They killed him! Just for asking! All he did was ask!” She put her head down and cried into her hands.
I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t know if I should console her or make a joke. I don’t know why but I hugged her. It seemed like my best bet. “I’m sorry.” I told her.
She actually stopped crying. I let her go and the look on her face was a mix between happy and surprised.
“Now dry those tears.” I said poking her in the forehead. “It isn’t cute when girls cry, Shor-…Nairi.”
I got up and started to walk away.
“Hey!” She got up and chased after me. “Did you just, back there.”
“I have no idea what you are talking about, Shorty.”
“I knew it! I must have been hearing things.” We walked for a while, but right before we got to camp Nairi grabbed my sleeve. I looked down at her. She looked like a small child “Thank you,” It was all she said, but I could tell she really meant it.
I was about to say something but I was interrupted by Xander. “Where were you two? We need to go.” He looked around. “We have lost some time.”
“Sorry.” Nairi looked at him, a smile back on her face. “We needed to talk.”
Xander sighed. “I guess it’s all right as long as you’re here now.” He looked at the forest. “We may have to cross the forest a ways.”
Bly looked terrified. “B-but we-we can’t…I-it is too dangerous.”
“It might be safer if we ride the horses.” Xander looked thoughtful.
“Um, Horses don’t really like me.” I said rubbing the back of my head. I don’t know why they don’t; maybe it is because of my dragon blood?
“Well they may let you ride them. They are, as you know,” he smiled, “different.”
I shrugged. “I guess I will try.” I walked up to them. “Which one should I ride?”
Xander pointed to the one on the right. “That’s Ciar. If you don’t mind ride her.”
“All right, but I’m telling you it probably won’t work.” I climbed onto her back. She shifted under my weight, but she didn’t throw me off. “Whoa.” I patted her on the neck. “No way. She didn’t throw me off.” I was really shocked. Every time I had ever tried to ride a horse they would throw me off immediately.
“All right then. Bly, if you don’t mind could you ride with me. Nairi, you can ride with Adonis.”
I looked over to Nairi and she looked petrified. “No. No, no, no, no, no absolutely not.” She crossed her arms in an X shape. “There is no way in all Incantevole I am getting on that horse, especially with him driving.” She glared at me.
“Now come on, Shorty, that’s just mean.” I smiled at her.
“I don’t care…I’m not riding a horse.” She looked away from me. Was she blushing?
“Ah, I see now. You have never ridden a horse have you?” I smiled. This was hilarious. To me anyway.
“Nairi, I’m sorry but you really have to ride him.” Xander looked like he truly felt sorry for her.
I sighed. “Come on, Shorty.” I looked at her. “It isn’t that bad.”
“Yes, it is! Trusting your life in the hands of an animal that can run super fast and crush you like a bug if it wanted too.”
“Oh come on. I’ll be with you.”
“That makes it worse.” She made this face like she just ate something bad.
“What, come on, I won’t let you fall.” I smiled at her. And at the thought of falling she turned a sickly pale.
I saw Xander walking up behind her and placing a hand on her shoulder. “I’m sorry Nairi.” He really did look sorry. “I hope you can forgive me.” With that he hefted her up and placed her behind me. As soon as she realized what happened she shuddered, and grabbed onto my waist so tight it knocked the air out of me.
“Nairi,” I gasped. “You don’t have to hold on so tight.”
“Yes I do! I’m not letting up any till I’m off this thing.” I could hear her voice trembling, her body too.
Why is she so scared?  I wondered.
Xander hopped onto Rudy and helped Bly onto the back of him in one fluid movement. “Ok, let’s be off then.” He took off galloping near the edge of the forest.
“All right, Shorty. Here we go.” I galloped after him and heard Nairi take in a sharp breath.
“I’m going to die. I’m going to die.” She kept repeating that over and over again. And she was still choking the life out of me. “Please get me off this thing.”
“Hey don’t worry.” I tried reassuring her. Maybe she would stop hugging my stomach so hard. “I won’t let you fall off. Ok?” She didn’t stop gripping me but she stopped repeating she was going to die.
We caught up to Xander and Bly. They had stopped at an opening in the trees. It seemed perfectly safe, everything still, and quite. But we all knew that wasn’t the case. This forest is probably going to eat us alive.
“We have to go in here. I think it would be our best bet.” Xander looked like he really didn’t want to go into the forest. I understand why. I heard Nairi draw in a sharp breath.
“The trees, they are moving, and the winds not even blowing.”
“I know.” I would have looked at her but it is complicated when someone is sitting behind you. “So,” I said smiling. “Shall we face the impending doom?”
“I guess we shall.” Xander rode into the forest.
We got about a quarter through the forest before we started noticing that the trees seemed to be changing. “Adonis,” Nairi whispered behind me. “This place gives me the creeps.”  I could feel her shift behind me.
“Ya, me to.”
She might have said more, but before she had a chance I interrupted her.
“Stop,” Xander stopped and looked at me.
“What is it?” He said.
I sniffed the air just to be sure. And I was. “I smell another dragon.”
“W-what?” Bly looked frightened behind Xander.
“How do you know?” Xander looked at me, trying to get as much information as possible.
“I just told you, I smell it… It might be better to walk.”
“Thank goodness.” Nairi let out a huge sigh.
“But then it would be equally as dangerous.” Xander looked me dead in the eyes.
“It seems we are at a standstill.” I shrugged. “I have an idea. We could leave the horses here and scout ahead a ways. If we see nothing, come back, and continue onward.”
Xander sighed. “I guess we should. If there really is a dragon up there somewhere we really would want to know before getting toasted.”
Xander headed off deeper into the forest. “Hey wait up.” I ran to catch up. By the crunching of leaves behind me, I knew the girls were following.
We walked carefully threw the trees, trying not to make too much noise, then I heard something. “Wait.” I said urgently, they all stopped in their tracks. I listened very carefully, then I heard it a voice.     'They are slow, we could have been there by now if we would have just left them behind,'
I looked up at my traveling companions. “Someone is coming.”
We hid in the underbrush so they hopefully wouldn’t see us. We weren’t going to suddenly attack them or anything, just make sure they didn’t pose a threat. Suddenly two girls in black, a boy, and a huge dragon, came out of the trees. Apparently the underbrush we were hiding in wasn’t a very effective hiding spot. We could tell they saw us because almost as soon as they came out of the trees the girl screamed, and the dragon snarled.
We stepped out of our hiding spot and stood back to back. The dragon looked me dead in the eyes. I smiled, ‘Why hello there, I have a request. Please don’t hurt us. We have no intention of hurting you.’ I whispered into the dragons mind. The dragon looked at me. I hoped it worked. Full blooded dragons can communicate telepathically. But I’m not a full blooded dragon.
Suddenly another girl and a boy came running out of the bushes.
I heard Nairi whisper behind me. “Ya Adonis great idea, now we have a massive dragon and five people that could be working for the king surrounding us. Thanks for that.”
“No problem.” I said sarcastically. Though it was true, I just hope these people are friendly.

Felix (part 2)

"How much longer?"

Andromeda ignored the question and continued to stir the potion, murmuring dark, ancient words of which Felix couldn't decipher. The woman sat amongst a ring of candles, the only light in the room, while pouring a white powder into the small cauldron.

He inwardly winced as she emptied every ounce of the precious powder into the pink liquid, which changed to a dark purplish hue. If this did not work, or if the spell was ruined, finding more of the magical powder would be costly.

"It is almost done." said Andromeda, filling a vile of the sinister brew before corking it."All it needs now are the hearts. By the way, how are your men coming along to finding them?"

"Still no luck, but I have a promising lead."

Andromeda placed the vile in a small chest and locked it with a key from around her neck."Do you need any of my 'assissance' in this lead of yours?"

Felix thought a moment; Andromeda was no doubt referring to her shadow creatures, her 'pets' as she called them, and nodded his head.

"Yes. I need you to send one of your minions to follow a man who I suspect is leaking information to the rebels."

"...it's Nuvole isn't it?" The silent nod drew a smile on Andromeda's lips." Then I shall do so with utmost pleasure."

The evil duo's plans are starting to unfold. Will our heroes stop whatever spell Andromeda has up her sleeve? And who's hearts do they speak of? Tune in next time to see.

Sorry it's late and short. My bad. They really should find a cure for procrastination.
